Short description
Wooden structure with plastic barrier on both sides to cage the queen and keep the colony free from brood. It is used both in summer after the second honey harvest and in autumn/winter, when thanks to the slope the cluster of bees can settle around the queen. To avoid uncontrolled constructions, the thickness of the wood is only 10 mm

Further information

With the brood cage, the queen is caged for 24 days in the summer after the second honey harvest to free the colony from breeding. Now it is also possible to remove mite residues with oxalic acid or lactic acid.

A second possible use is to cage the queen in autumn/winter for a period without reproduction. This is intended to help bees hibernate, fly less and reduce the number of Varroa mites due to lack of brood. The tilt is used to allow the bee group to sit around the queen in winter. Winter caging should only be used for one-room colonies.

To avoid wild construction, the thickness of the wood is 10 mm, the queen is released via an outlet near the top beam
